What they work on
- Deliver NSF I-Corps entrepreneurial training online and in multiple formats across a five-state Desert and Pacific network, to address skill gaps in launching deep technology ventures.
- Expand innovation capacity in areas outside typical venture hubs by connecting less-resourced institutions with experienced ones through pooled mentors, industry experts and shared customer databases.
- Study entrepreneurial programming, including entrepreneurial mindset development and curricular adaptations, to inform I-Corps practice and share national trends.
More about the research
This award supports a regional hub in the National Science Foundation's I-Corps program, which trains academic researchers to turn their discoveries into businesses. The hub links small, medium and large institutions across five states in the Desert and Pacific region.
Why it matters
The hub aims to help university-developed technologies reach local, regional and national markets. This includes institutions in areas with fewer resources for innovation. Researchers and students could gain entrepreneurial skills, and regional economies could gain new ventures. Dual-use technologies in cybersecurity, materials and analytics could also support national security.
Known grants
From NIH and NSF research grants. Labs often have other funding we can't see.
