A key question is which support strategies work best at mid-sized emerging research institutions (ERIs) and primarily undergraduate institutions (PUIs), and whether those strategies can last.
Why it matters
The project could give smaller universities practical, tested models for supporting faculty research, such as college-based grant advocates and cross-institution proposal review. Faculty at these schools could compete more successfully for funding. More students could also gain mentored research experience, which the project links to student success after graduation.
