- Grants
- 1 known grant, through May 2027
What they work on
- Develop a dual-track training program in which working cybersecurity analysts and engineers role-play within a simulated organization, completing both role-specific tasks and joint data analytics tasks.
- Deliver learning through remote modules, team coaching sessions and team-based incident response exercises whose scale and complexity grow over time, so data analytics skills deepen step by step.
- Refine the program over three rounds using Design-based Research, guided by frameworks such as Understanding by Design and Universal Design for Learning, with effects measured by an external evaluation team.
More about the research
Engineers build the data analytics tools the analysts use, drawing on data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Few training programs teach working professionals to use these tools, and none teach the two groups to work together. This project develops and studies a training program designed to close both gaps.
Why it matters
Cyber threats keep changing, and defense teams need professionals who can apply data analytics and cooperate across roles. A tested training model could help organizations upskill working cybersecurity analysts and engineers faster. This could strengthen their incident response and their day-to-day defense operations.
Known grants
From NIH and NSF research grants. Labs often have other funding we can't see.
