Jennifer Fairchild
Stanford University, CA·Education Research
As the population ages, the share of people over 70 keeps rising, and with it the number affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Meeting that demand requires not only research but researchers: clinicians and scientists trained specifically to study dementia.

- Grants
- 1 known grant, through Mar 2030
What they work on
- Support two trainees per year through a formalized mentored training program in aging and Alzheimer's disease and related disorders at the Stanford Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.
- Pair each REC Scholar with mentors from the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center and across Stanford, combining formal didactics and coursework with clinical research training.
- Guide each scholar through a mentored research project leading to a manuscript and to submission of a career development award or independent research award application.
- Strengthen the center's role as a shared resource supporting multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary dementia research.
More about the research
This award supports the Research Education Component of the Stanford Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, whose purpose is to prepare the next generation of investigators in aging and dementia research.
Why it matters
Alzheimer's disease and related dementias are described here as a public-health crisis driven by population aging. Training clinicians and scientists who can lead dementia research addresses the workforce side of that problem, with the aim that scholars go on to run independently funded research programs in aging and dementia.
Known grants
From NIH and NSF research grants. Labs often have other funding we can't see.
